Sensor defect. best in Sensors

Decided to install a new sensor with a new water pump. The new unit sent the correct temperature to my 1997 Jeep's sensor, but sent a high resistance reading to the OBD11 unit, triggering a trouble code (PO118) causing the engine to stall. I put the old temperature sensor back in and there were no more problems. Check the resistance reading between old and new and this new block is 180 degrees higher. Cannot be used on this vehicle, although specifications state it can. Maybe just a lemon, but that goes in the trash.
