Why can't all transmission filters be spin-on?
The beauty of the Subaru is that I can change my transmission oil and filter without having to indiscriminately remove the sump filter and dripping liquid everywhere. Also, leaving your transmission drained for a few hours will drain the old transmission fluid more than taking it to the dealer - I'm talking 7 liters versus 3 or 4 liters - and it's always better to replace more than leave it in the car. I just start emptying it and leave it while I do other things - don't forget to refill it!
