When I make coffee in the morning I use a 4 cup paper filter with 2 tablespoons of coffee. I pour water up to the 4 cup mark. I have no idea why 2 coffees equals 4 on the scale. During the day I can also prepare tea with a tea bag instead of coffee and filters. I usually fill up to the 3 cup mark for about 1 1/2 cups. To remove any stains or coffee residue left in the pot, I use a little bleach in the water and a non-abrasive brush. Sometimes some water leaks from the dripper in the pot and spills onto the counter. When pouring, I avoid spilling through the spout by keeping the decanter lid open. Over time I developed a plaque on the stove. I've had good success with Toastmaster products in the past, but this one was disappointing.
