I've used it to drill about a hundred holes in power poles during the reconstruction. They worked well for about the first two holes but seemed to dull very quickly. I was only halfway through a lot of things, so I started carrying a very small half-round file in my pocket to touch up the edges from time to time. I didn't let these tips get too hot, but they didn't hold the edge well at all. In addition, part of the quick-change shank of two bits broke off during use. ) and they were amazing. Same drill bit, same wood, same technique, and they're still as sharp as when we started. Overall, Irwin does good things, so I was very disappointed. Maybe I got a bad batch?
