After a disappointing start I got it working.

If you have a problem with the console not playing any sound, you need to go to the settings and scroll down further (the menu design isn't the best) and you can switch the sound from 2.1 (PC) to 2.1 (AV). LG Support didn't help here, but everything worked perfectly.
