Most of my DeWalt tools are 18 volt, but I have a drill and a trim saw that are still 14.4 volt, so I bought these batteries with the intention of breathing new life into these older tools. I had some aging 14.4 volt aftermarket packs that just didn't seem to hold charge very long, so these new batteries were bought to replace them. The packs come pre-charged, and so right from the start, I noticed the saw, even just running the motor without cutting wood, was running slower (and this is in comparison to 5 year old generic (non-DeWalt) packs), and the drill was underpowered, to the point where I could easily stop it by hand by grabbing the chuck.I figured they just needed a charge, so I charged both packs (I have three different chargers, all genuine DeWalt). I was concerned because both batteries reached a full charge in about 20 minutes, instead of the normal hour plus the older packs took to charge, and sure enough, even after charging, the saw still runs slow (and won't cut anything heavier than cardboard), and the drill has way too little torque. The strange thing is, when not connected to a tool, these packs measure the exact same voltage, about 16.5 volts, that my old generic packs measure, but as soon as you put a load on them, these new packs become worthless.About the only thing these might be good for would be something with a lower draw, like a flashlight, but I don't own any DeWalt flashlights, so these are pretty much useless to me. I missed the return window, so this was a waste of money for me. I've gone back to using my old, worn-out packs. They don't last long, but they at least do the job for a bit.I've been on Revain for over a decade, and this is my first one star review. I don't know if I just got bad packs, but my review is based on the product I received. The scientist in me wants to hook the batteries to something like a car headlight, and do an A/B test to compare these new packs to my old batteries, and check the amperage (current flow) and voltage drop, but I've already wasted time and money on these.Hope your results are better.
