Review on 📡 D-Link DAP-1525: Reliable Dual Band Gigabit Media Bridge & Access Point (Discontinued by Manufacturer) by Robert Arneson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to set up and works

It took me ten minutes to set up the hotspot. I connected an ethernet cable to it from the switch, set it to 2.4 ap and powered it on. I was able to add it to my network but I changed the address from 192.168.0.50 to .51 in case I get a different one. That gives me 35 Mbps down and 5 Mbps on my ground floor. My basement router used to transmit earlier, but when it went to the second floor it was 4 down and 200 up. It was too slow for videos. Now in the bedrooms we get 26 and 4 speeds. videos no problem. Reasonable price, easy to use. Attention, it only works in access point mode, which means that it transmits a wireless signal to wireless devices, or it only works in bridge mode, which means that up to four devices can be connected to it. In access point mode, a Category 5 cable must be connected to the back panel and the other end of the cable must be connected to the router. Makes sense because you want 100% of the signal to reach it so it can pass 100% of the signal where it is. If your router is on the ground floor, you've boosted the speed of your devices on the first floor and there's enough left over to get to the second floor. I've found that I have about 10 channels down and 1 up about 200 feet from my house, so I can stream on an iPad or tablet in the woods around the house, garage, shed, etc. Works great.
