Mouldy. I smelled it when I opened it. That means the wood was wet. The mold started to peel off. Aspergillosis (from mold) is usually fatal to birds. Mold spores enter the air sacs and grow. I lost a young amazon to aspergillosis from a wrapped, wet caged bass. I had no idea at the time what that was. Now I know. DO NOT buy this product. If you do, you must immediately soak them in the bleach solution.
