Error x2 for tailgate locks

I was really hoping the bully lock would work as there are very few options. After spending over $800 on a trunk lid and $30 on this lock, I set a goal of getting a solid bed for my family's camping gear. When I first installed the Bully lock it worked for several weeks. And when I say it works, I mean that when locked, the left side unlocks, but the right side stays locked. It was good enough for me (3 stars). The tailgate was opened probably 10 times before the handle felt a little sticky and misaligned. Checked the tightness of the screws again. In the third week of use the handle got stuck with the trunk lid, I lifted the handle and it broke (2 stars). After purchasing a new handle and re-installing a new handle and bully lock, the handle mechanism's two levers slide right around the bar, which is designed to prevent hands from opening the latch. Blocking Bully now has no effect if blocked. Pulling the handle opens the tailgate straight up, whether locked or not (1 star). My return period has passed so now I'm eating the cost. It's about time I stop being so cheap and spend extra money on Pop Lock. Waiting for my feedback on this! I hope my words of caution will keep you from wasting your time and money like I have.
