This lock is useless as it makes opening the tailgate ten times more difficult when unlocked. That was always a problem, even when it was new. This is my second lock that I have bought from this company. The first was a few years ago for my '05 Chevy Silverado and the other this year for my '06 GMC Sierra. The price is good and it absolutely locks my back door. My problem is that the covers popped out on both the Chevy 05 and GMC 06 when I closed the tailgate, I didn't slam the tailgate shut. I was really hoping the bully lock would work as there are very few options. After spending over $800 on a trunk lid and $30 on this lock, I set a goal of getting a solid bed for my family's camping gear. When I first installed the Bully lock it worked for several weeks. Very complicated installation. Poor design, which is odd as the quality (apart from the bezel - more on that later) doesn't seem that bad. The bolt intended for installation did not fit in the latch hole. I was finally able to get it to catch after over half an hour of unnecessary effort.
