Continue reading. First use the ladder to support the back door. Then YOU MUST REMOVE BOTH OLD RACKS or you won't have enough space for the new ones. Once the old posts are removed you can extend the gate beyond its normal reach to install the new ones. Install the new racks according to the instructions listed and you should be good to go. After I figured it out, it took 5 minutes and they seem very sturdy. The tailgate now works perfectly!
