I'm not a fan of disposable auto parts.

I can't say I see a significant difference between this one and the fram it replaced, but regularly pulling things out of my cars just to throw them away makes me a curmudgeon. Air filters in particular are an issue as we are in a high desert with high winds and tend to pick up a lot of dust fairly quickly. I usually give them a syringe with an air compressor nozzle to clean them out and go a few more miles. I have a lot of power gear on acres and they all have some sort of pre-filter, so the main filter isn't the only thing keeping unwanted stuff out of your fuel system. This is usually a foam pad that wraps around the filter and can be cleaned with an air hose or tossed in the washing machine. It makes more sense than pulling it out and throwing it away, so it would be nice if they made some sort of pre-filter to wrap it around, or maybe I'll try making my own. Anyway, not to sound too cheap I think anything under $10 is worth it and I've paid about 2-3 times more and they still get dirty just as quickly and I haven't seen anything but words per pack to support claims that these more expensive filters actually perform better than this one. However, I suspect there are some who believe that paying more gets you a better filter, but from experience with my power gear, that's not the case. I bought air filters and carburetors that were genuine Briggs & Stratton or Tecumseh OEMs and then bought items that were identical in appearance and installation direct from China at a significantly lower price and I literally couldn't tell the difference. The FRAM CA8039 Extra Guard costs nearly $19 and claims to have "double motor protection," but that doesn't mean it lasts twice as long. On my 1999 5.4L Expedition I got it for paying close to $40 each. The time I have to replace the air filter in this and my 1990 Chevy K2500 is just too much. I just changed the gas line filters and pumps and noticed a noticeable improvement in MPG, but I don't see any real improvement in the air filters...but that's just me. At around $8 this was a good deal. Stop talking about filters!
