Review on ๐Ÿ”Œ TruPow 110V AC Electric Self-Priming Diesel Kerosene Oil Fuel Transfer Extractor Pump with 15 GPM Flow Rate by Adam Wilson

It doesn't start under load, otherwise everything seems fine.

So I ordered this pump to add to my 1000 gallon Red Diesel tank for easier fueling of tractors and farm trucks. Spent a lot of time plugging it in and hooking up power to the tank to get the pump working. I connected everything, pushed the switch, the pump turned on and started pumping fuel. It seemed to work great. Shut off the pump and then tried again, this time the motor started to rev but very slowly and didn't pick up speed. It wasn't until I pulled the knob on the fuel pump to pump fuel through the nozzle that it finally revved up to full speed after about 15 seconds and then kept running. Well I've tried a few more times and it's almost the same every time. From what I could tell, when the pump shuts off there seems to be some residual pressure in the line on the high pressure side, and the engine starting windings don't have enough strength to overcome this resistance, so the engine won't start. up to full speed. I think if I continued to use it like this the motor would eventually burn out due to the heavy loading on the starting windings. I also noticed a rattling noise in the control box on top of the pump, I didn't bother to open it up and see what was inside. I sent these back and ended up buying a cheaper Blackhorse pump here on Amazon which is larger and the motor runs great. This pump pumped fuel, although there's no doubt about it, and it's quite noisy. If you were just using it to transfer fuel without an injector and it was just a passive transfer it would work. BUT, if you want a fuel injector with an auto shut off end like a commercial gas pump, this thing doesn't seem to have pressure start bricks, look for another option.

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • boring package
