Finally had a chance today to try this out. What I know:The first sheet in the pad is stuck to the cover of the pad and is unusable.Tearing out a sheet must be done carefully and there will be some lose canvas threads to clean up at the edge.I tried this with both gouache and acrylic and it worked for either, however the canvas has a lot of tooth and your paint has to be just the right consistency for good coverage.I was able to cut this on my old style guillotine paper cutter and still get a straight, clean edge.

While this was nice paper to use with watercolor pencils for just fun projects, it would not be my choice for a gift or something I wanted to eventually frame or sell. It doesn''t continue to lay flat the more water you put on it. That said, with the watercolor pencils, you had to use more water to get the marks to blend. In some spots, it even seemed that the paper was flaking off. Overall just seemed like a cheaper product for practice or art therapy.
