Review on Royal Canin Senior Cat Food - Aging 12+ Thin Slices In Gravy, 3 Oz Cans by Len Cooper

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great food for picky senior cats

We adopted an elderly Persian cat from a rescue who refused to eat anything but the crappiest dry food. As dry food is extremely bad for their kidneys, and at her age she needed all the help she could get, we tried over a dozen varieties of the highest quality raw, grain-free, organic, etc etc wet foods. I bought a can of this out of desperation, and FINALLY! A wet food she enjoys. The ingredient list in this one is not what I would prefer for a cat - we normally feed Fussie Cat which is a grain-free, low ingredient wet food - but at this point, we just need her to EAT (she is just 5 lbs, poor thing.)We mix in one capsule of Dasuquin for cats, a couple of tablespoons of cat milk, and a pea-sized amount of senior cat nutrient enhancer and mush it all up. She eats the whole thing and has already put on a couple of ounces in the last two days. Hallelujah! We do plan to slowly transition her to raw as that is the most natural diet for a cat, by mixing in tiny amounts of ground raw chicken and then slowly increasing the proportion until she adjusts.Thank you to Betty McDonald, a local holistic pet nutritionist here in Palm Springs, who helped us get our girl on the right track in conjunction with our traditional vet. :-)

Pros
  • Cat-wet-food
Cons
  • May cause cats to have liver problems due to low quality ingredients
