I replaced the hinges on one of our doors (my wife wanted bronze hardware instead of brushed nickel hardware) but found that the door was about 1 4 inches tall after replacing the old hinges was. Gap on latch side and no gap on hinge side. This left a small air gap and also caused the door to close poorly. These spacers were a great solution as they are 1/16 inch thick. installed two of these under each hinge attached to the frame to move the door 1/8 inch towards the deadbolt. There is now an even 1/8 inch gap on both sides as shown in the picture (I meant to take a picture beforehand too, but forgot it, sorry!). Another option is to use cardboard, but it's hard to measure how much a cardboard disc actually moves a door. And over time, they can fail. They're much better and their shape is perfect, which makes them easy to install: just unclip the hinge parts and insert the spacer (if necessary, pierce it with something really thin, like a razor or other spacer, to the required depth through). . Then tighten the hardware again and you're done! I recommend making sure you have long enough screws wherever you install these standoffs. Many hinges come with short screws, but you really want the 3" screws to go into the door frame so they can grip the actual door frame, not just the skin (and be sure to pre-drill the holes). so as not to split the wood).
