I don't know what most people are talking about as it's a loose fit. I can shake it, I can hit it, and if I don't throw it like a baseball, the knife stays in. I have no doubt it will stay safe while boating, snorkeling or diving. It's not $100 plus a dive or kayak knife. This is an inexpensive knife that will not ruin your day if you lose it. The only thing I don't like about it, if you look at my photo where my finger is on the blade, I would like them to sharpen that part so that you have a sharp part of the blade with no nicks.
