Review on πŸ“Ά Astatic PDC1 100 Watt SWR Meter: Enhance Your Signal Performance with Precise Measurement by Bob Schultz

Incorrect labeling and instructions

If you follow instructions as written and send 100W you will destroy the device. Using SWR meters I've found the following: 1. The left switch is strictly a power level switch and the FWD and REF markers should be with the right switch. My meter has the right switch installed upside down. To use this meter properly, set the left switch to the appropriate power level and do not toggle it. Turn on the transmitter so that it outputs power. Flip the right switch and find out which position the reading is higher. Note that the switch can also be wired the other way around. The higher value is the front PWR. Turn the knob to get a full scale reading. Then toggle the right switch while transmitting and the lower value is your SWR. The electronics work, but the markings and instructions are guaranteed to be confusing. Experienced users of SWR meters will figure this out quickly, but new users will likely destroy their meter by following the printed instructions. When I opened the device, I found the build quality to be good.
