Review on 🔧 3M 08609 Window-Weld Super Fast Urethane Sealant - Black - 10.5 fl oz. by Clint Miller

I was very pleased with the performance of this adhesive. I followed the instructions found online and used suction cups, 3M primer, sticks/balls to spread the primer and 3M Window-Weld Urethane Adhesive with strips of wood to spread the load. I was particularly pleased about the good initial adhesion and the extended open time. This allowed me to move the glass and stretch the top while my son perfectly aligned the fabric with the existing join line, resulting in a near-perfect repair. The rear glass connection is very fast (more than 2-3 days) resulting in more than 3/4 of the glass coming off. The top portion came off first, and by the time my supplies arrived the passenger side had fallen off around the corner and halfway down. It took 3 separate "gluing sessions" to glue everything back together within 2 days. In the first 2 sessions the bottom part and top corners were re-glued leaving the full width of the top glue line for the last session. Incidentally, the image of the glass on the passenger side is a test and does not show the use of continuous spacer strips around the corner. I don't think it shows in the "after" photo but there is a small defect on the reel at the top. I had too much space between the clamps and wasn't getting perfectly consistent extrusion in a small area. It's important to note that by saving the "tip" from the glue cartridge I was able to plug it and keep the glue from drying out so I could keep using it while each section cured (at least 4-5 hours). In hindsight I should have done the final top in 2 parts, but I was (unfairly) concerned that the glue would dry in the tube before I could re-glue the entire window. Squeezing out the glue wasn't a problem. All with a razor and cleaned perfectly and quickly. A week has passed since the repair, there are no traces of adhesive peeling. I expect it to last longer than the rest of the original 13 year old top. If the last factory installed/original link fails I will not hesitate to order again and fix it the same way. Completely satisfied.
