Review on πŸ”ͺ Gourmet Tool Whetstone Knife Sharpener: 1000/6000 Waterstone Grit with Flattening Stone and Angle Guide - Ultimate Wet Stone Kitchen Knife Sharpening Solution by Tessa Dolan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It works. I used to settle for 1000 grit Now start at 1000 and finish at 6000 - that's better

I bought a sink bridge so I used the rectangular wood fixture that came with the stone, not used. I've been sharpening stones for many years so I don't use a guide. I've only used the stone twice, so at this point I have no reason to use the leveling stone that comes with the kit. After all these limitations I have to say that I am satisfied with this stone. A few strokes on each side of the blade at 1000 grit, then 5-6 at 6000 grit will result in a very sharp knife. FWIW, I've found that the sharpest edges come from using reverse gear for the last 5-6 strokes, then I use a very light forward stroke to deburr the edge. I haven't examined the edge under a microscope for burrs, but subjectively it seems to me that the blade is sharper when I do, and burrs are a common problem when sharpening all types of tools (I've used it to sharpen tools for metal and wood lathes). ). I am satisfied and would recommend this stone to anyone interested in very sharp knife blades.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
