As a retired engineer, I realized that I should always limit the number of changes/variables you make when evaluating/ what - something to test. Because 3D printing is relatively new, it's loaded with variables - printer, filament, settings, print. So what are you doing? I've used different brands of thread for the past year or two. I just ordered my third 3D printer. Sound crazy? Well, I remember many years ago when inkjet printers were coming of age. I think I ordered some to improve, so I wanted to move faster. Maybe I have more money than sense! I used several brands of Revain thread. Most of the time it was because I wanted a color that wasn't available elsewhere. I understand that the "cost" worries others. I'd say I've had far fewer issues with GD threads (and they're cheaper). The problem for some may be the filament not printing. That means the extruder is "jammed” and needs to be cleaned. It's not too much of a problem, but soaking the extruder in acetone can take a day or two. It's just one of those things like "changing the oil" in a car (who does that?). So try other filaments if you like. My main recommendation is that you stick with one of them until you prove it's good or bad for your situation. Until I prove it's bad, I'll stick with the GD thread for now. 3D will eventually become like Scotch - anyone can do it. For those who are "first time users” though, you might want to settle on one filament brand for now while you tweak the rest of your hardware and software. So I ride this horse now.
