We have the black version of this can and have had it since 2019 and the function of it still works. The motion sensor is still fine, we use rechargeable batteries which work great in it for quite a long time. In the almost 3 years we've had it I can only recall changing the rechargeable batteries 4 times or so. Within the first month the ring to keep the bag in place snapped because it was just a flimsy piece of plastic, but we've made due without it by buying really large bags. The issue I have with it now after all this time is that it has rusted all over the inside of the can so much that it can put a cut in the trash bag when you pull it out as the black coating is flaking off inside, not always but every so often we would see a rip in the bag and we get really good, large bags in order to fit the height of this can. The rust and paint flaking has caused issues with us having to then double bag a lot of the bags we would pull out which defeats the purpose of having to go through almost twice the amount of bags we should normally. We've tried cleaning it out and everything properly, but the rust is still there and that's just the natural of being a black coating.In short, it's a good trash can overall, but the rust is a huge issue that you will see over time in my experience.
