won't buy again

My order shipped quickly and had all the parts I needed. However, I have the following observations: 1. The vent covers do not "click" in as expected after installation and this leaves me with a feeling that the vent cover may not stay closed. 2. The "rubber" pad that fits the base of the spout is already quite stiff just a week after it was on my gas cans. Rather than being soft and "rubbery" which allows it to harden well into the shape I took the first time I unscrewed the lid and poured it the first time. So subsequently removing and replacing the cap will leave it leaking unless you really screw it together, and over time I expect this to get worse. When the canister is full and closed the idea is to put the spout upside down in the fuel and then put the cap on the base. Then attach both to the glass with a screw cap. Such banks had been in production for years, at least before the "improvements" were forced upon us by the Liberals. But the "cap" does not fit on this kit. This makes it difficult to close. And when the rubber seal hardens (see #1 above) it gets even worse. 4. Finally, to install the vent, you need to drill a 1/2 inch diameter hole and insert a vent plug into that hole. Fall in short order, you kind of screwed up. The "better" vent caps use a slightly smaller opening, so you can't replace that vent with one of those. I guess I'll look for another vent. Lids in the future and I will look for those that use a 1/2" hole. In hindsight I should have just bought some yellow vent plugs and then kept the spout that came with my jars (a Midwest brand) The Midwest spout seals better and the vent is all you really need.
