π Probably good for chisels, but not knives
Personally, I bought this item to find out what angle the knife was sharpened at (it was recommended to give the item to the To add sharper for the knives I bought). it's absolutely not for that. It's hard to describe, but the edge of the blade extends beyond the gauge block into the grooves and into the round hole drilled at the bottom of each gauge point.
