ANGLE GAUGE FOR MEASURING AND MARKING

I use this gauge to check the bevel angles of chisels and planes. It is excellent for this purpose and is very good value for money. I also like that I can put it in my workshop apron pocket and it doesn't take up much space.

Pros
  • good stuff
Cons
  • Tape

Big tools only! on measuring and marking tools

Very strong easy to read laser engraved corners. This gauge is not small enough to measure the secondary bevel on double bevel tools like smaller knives etc. It measures the primary bevel on double bevel tools and of course on single bevel tools. I've used it on lawn mower blades, axes and some other heavy cutting tools and it's perfect for that.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Large and bulky

😞 Probably good for chisels, but not knives

Personally, I bought this item to find out what angle the knife was sharpened at (it was recommended to give the item to the To add sharper for the knives I bought). it's absolutely not for that. It's hard to describe, but the edge of the blade extends beyond the gauge block into the grooves and into the round hole drilled at the bottom of each gauge point.

Pros
  • Top marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Expensive

I think it does what it's supposed to do

I suppose you should use this to center the knife in the middle of the groove and try to line up the knife blade bevel with the side. Then move the gauge perpendicular to the knife and see if the other side matches. Here you shouldn't just stick the knife in the slot and see if it fits. The problem is that when the grinding width is only about a millimeter, a bezel is difficult to grip with a sharp blade. You have to pull out a magnifying glass and have very strong hands. I can't confirm the…

  • Comfortable to use

Ideal for chisels, wood planing knives etc.

A handsome piece of heavy polished metal with clearly engraved corner numbers on both sides. I can't tell if the tool was sheared or pierced, but the edges are smooth throughout. Unfortunately, unlike the photo above, mine had "Tipu" written on both sides in the middle (not my preference). The hole fits my perforated metal hooks with plenty of room, but is probably too big for a bunch of keys. I have no real complaints. This will get the job done.

Pros
  • Stainless steel
Cons

Measuring the angle of an ax blade - like

The circle at the end of each wedge is too large. Most of the edge of the earth ends in a circle, and it's not enough to reliably measure the angle. You can find a wedge where the bottom appears to be parallel to the other edge by looking perpendicular to the gauge and aligning the tip of the sharpener with one edge of the wedge. This gives you an idea of the angle, barring aiming/parallax errors. This is better than aligning the edge with a straight object and making a deduction, but it would…

Pros
  • An essential quick check for sharpening and sharpening, but not for a knife blade.
Cons

I suppose it does what it's supposed to do

I suppose you should use this to center the knife to center the slot and try to align the bevel of the knife blade with the side. Then move the sensor perpendicular to the knife and see if the other side matches. This isn't where you should just slide the knife into the slot and see if it fits. The problem is that it's actually difficult to pick up a bezel with a sharp blade when the grinding width is only about a millimeter. You must break out a magnifying glass and have very strong hands. • 1/4 inch hole for attaching to a key chain or hanging on a key rack
