Update 2 August 2018 Since then I've bought an E-M1 (not MK II) almost exclusively for this lens. The E-M1 with PDAF has both improved autofocus speed and accuracy. Now it's almost on par with 12-100 on E-M1 or E-M5.2. Autofocus accuracy is no longer an issue; the reason I am rating it 5 stars now. I also uploaded some photos taken with this incredible lens. Incidentally, a used E-M1 is relatively inexpensive (cheaper than a used E-M5.2). Although it's no longer a flagship model, it's still a very powerful camera. This combination of E-M1 and Oly 50-200 SWD is still significantly cheaper than the new PL 50-200; I also now have a second very powerful camera. First review I read almost all the reviews on this lens before purchasing it. Ratings are correct. It's sharp wide open and doesn't change much throughout the zoom range. It's sharper than my Oly 75-300 II. And because of the weight, I can get it at 200mm in 1/6th of a second with my hand. It's also the heaviest lens in my m4/3 platform, although not the heaviest in my collection. I use it together with the mmf-3 adapter. Autofocus isn't fast, but fast enough for my style. The e-5.2's AF accuracy is perhaps its biggest downside. It is accurate in most cases, but not always. This is the only lens on my m4/3 platform that I've had this issue with (reason for deducting a star). That's not a deal breaker for me. I will learn how to overcome this random limitation. It's not an adapter problem. because I have several adapters (both OE and non-OE). FWIW, AF is still slower on the GX85, but there doesn't appear to be any accuracy issues. In terms of workmanship, I am very satisfied with both the e-m5.2 and the GX85. The lens hood is "hugeβ, but this "doorβ is extremely useful for a polarizer. The tripod collar is great, although it took me a while to figure out how to get it off. This is not an everyday lens for me and I don't use a telephoto lens often enough, to justify buying a Pany 100-400 or a new 50-200. This lens fills the gap perfectly for the price I paid. If you are using it on an m4/3 case you need to consider the cost of the adapter. This lens fills the gap perfectly for the price I paid.
