I own an IT services company, and while I don't do a lot of cabling myself, it comes up often enough that I needed a good quality crimper for both the legacy and pass-through RJ45 plugs. I love the pass-throughs, but still have a quantity of the legacy ones that I will continue to use until those run out.The Hiija Crimp tool was the perfect solution as it accommodates both types of plugs. The tool appears to be well made, with a good heft to it that suggests it will reside in my toolbox for a long time. This looks and feels like a professional tool, and a great value at the price. I like the finger guard that is designed to keep fingers away from the cutting blades, a nice safety feature I had not enjoyed on previous crimpers. I also like the wiring color guide stamped into the tool, so I never have to reference my phone to confirm the proper wiring order should I forget.After I received the tool, I tried it out by replacing a couple RJ45 plugs that had broken retaining clips. I tried one of my older legacy Cat5e plugs and one of the pass-through plugs included with the tool on a couple of Cat5e cables. The tool worked perfectly on both plugs. I did have a little trouble with stripping the jacket, but part of that was probably my fault as I may not have put enough pressure on the cutters in fear of nicking the wires inside. I'm confident I will get better with that as I learn the proper amount of force to exert with this tool.Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and look forward to using it in my business. The pass-through plugs are a real time-saver, especially when I have a number of terminations to do and need to minimize my time.
