Elegant but not overly so. It was wrapped very tightly so the waves still need some time to unravel. Bought this smoke mat after reading and rereading the reviews. It's not grey. It's a very warm taupe. The best way to show the colors is just to take a picture of my pillow mess…. Grey-brown, creamy, charcoal streaks. Very nice warm dark grey. It's not cold grey. I think the color combination is presented in gray and cream just judging by the pictures. I also tried to put it in a different light. Some solid, some shaded. In comparison, a small rug under a brown leather chair works great. Mainly two light shades. I bought an 8' round. It drops exactly four inches less, so that's a consideration. This was nothing for me, except now I have to trim the pad. I didn't have bugs like some and the chemical smell is just the smell of new carpet. Applied last night and the smell is almost gone. The last photo shows a rug that I really liked. It's fun but rubbish. I got it from Wayfair and it would be a nightmare to return so I'm donating it. It was two months before I bought it as a replacement. I really hope these photos help. This is a beautiful, fun rug. I love it. It was a gamble and I read a lot of reviews but I would do it again in a heartbeat.
