I bought this lens to replace my Zuiko 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 lens. I was never entirely happy with the 70-300mm due to 1) poor focus in low light, 2) slow focus, 3) not very good image quality, and 4) small aperture. Based on the reviews of this 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 Zuiko lens, I expected all of these issues to be resolved, and they are almost resolved, with the exception of the low-light focus performance. I have to admit I'm a little disappointed in that regard. On several occasions, even in a well-lit room, I had trouble trying to get this lens to lock focus. Sometimes I feel that my 70-300mm lens focuses better indoors. However, outdoor performance is excellent, focusing is very fast and IQ is very impressive. But for the price of this lens I was expecting slightly better focusing indoors, which led me to give it 4 stars. I haven't had this lens for a very long time but I did get a chance to snap some photos at my son's soccer game. this weekend. I got great shots and am very happy with the results. Photos are very clear up to 200mm. I didn't use a tripod and the e620's image stabilization eliminated camera shake, but my hand is steady. I would recommend a tripod or monopod if you have trouble keeping the camera steady. The lens is longer and larger than the 70-300mm lens. It's also heavy, especially with the tripod mount attached. The tripod mount is easy to remove when you don't need it. Some people find this lens uncomfortable on smaller cameras like the e620, but I didn't get the impression. It's certainly a lot of lenses, but it's easy to handle and easy to balance on my small camera body. I love the IQ, fast focus and wide aperture, all the problems I had to solve with a 70-300mm lens. But I wish this lens would focus better indoors. However, I'm not 100% sure if it's the lens. Maybe that's more of a limitation of the camera than the lens? I would like to hear some comments from others, who use this lens on different cameras. The lens comes with a nice carry case, but I probably won't be using it. the lens fits well in my camera bag.
