Review on πŸ’‘ Enhanced Microsoft Surface Charging and Ethernet Connectivity by Alvis Minchenko

Revainrating 5 out of 5

For the photographer: works great!

Update: I see the current product offering is for the Surface Pro 7. The product I checked was for an older version that ran on Surface Pro 4 without USB-C. Original Review: As a photographer, I love my Surface Pro, but I usually need to connect external drives to save large RAW files, and since I only had one port available I had to import them from a card to the internal drive. , then remove the card reader and connect the drive, and then move the files again. With this dock, I can transfer files to an external drive in one step and still view and edit them instantly. There were similar products like this one and I got this one because of the ethernet port. There are so many Wi-Fi users in my apartment building that the interference is terrible, and even with an extension cord it's difficult to get reliable internet outside of the main room, so it only makes sense to connect directly (I use PowerLine -Electricity - outlet network extender), and this is also often useful when I travel and hotels have good speed ethernet ports in the room, but sometimes wifi access is severely limited (unless you pay extra). All in all I am very happy with this hub/dock. Haven't used all the features yet, but it's nice to know they're there. I will update this review if there are any issues.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Minor issues
