The fan was installed above the ventilation slots of the surround receiver. When the fan speed control is set to the second speed level (approximately 4.5V position), the fan operates smoothly and quietly, removing excess heat from the receiver when the room temperature reaches 85 degrees. I put 4 small non-slip pads on the bottom corners of the fan to keep it from moving. The protective metal front cover is held in place by 4 plastic standoffs that insert into the screw holes. Instead of using the fan on/off control, I turn it on and off with a small power strip with a lighted switch. This reduces wear on the fan controller.
