This scooter was for our boy who has wanted one for a long time. I wanted to make sure we got him one that seemed to last a long time. It's always hard to tell on a product page, but this one looked like it was well done. I purposely didn't want to buy one with a lot of moving parts, but once we unboxed it and drove it I wish we were more selective. It has no brakes, just a small plastic plate behind the rear wheel for braking. The rider has to place his heel to press on the hoop. It's not the best way to stop for a dime if you accidentally go down a hill. I understand why they rated this for 12 year olds and older as younger ones wouldn't break easily under their weight. I drove a bit in front of him and it didn't feel very smooth to me. The tires are smaller than I thought. You have nothing to give. So without "shock absorbers" or without "soft rubber" tires, driving is no fun if the road surface is not smooth at all. bigger tires and even a shock absorber system. I assume you will pay more, but I think your child will be safer playing with this than something like this.
