I use this to turn on the high beams on my truck. I connect my headlights through a relay so I only need a small amount of current through this switch to start the relay and the relay will send current to the headlights. I used the previous reviewer's schematic and some trial and error. I wanted the indicator to only light up when the light is on. I found I only needed one ground wire, not two. However, another validator may not use a relay. My route with the relay only required a ground at the switch. My diagram shows how my switch is wired and it works great for me. However, before making any permanent connections, test everything yourself to make sure everything is working. Edit: I was very lucky - my truck (Nissan Frontier 2008) had a blank switch plate and this switch fitted perfectly in that spot. Before you start cutting through the dash, if you have blank switches, see if you can use those instead for a cleaner factory look.
