I have had the Sangean PS-300 speaker pad for a year and a half and it still works. The amplifier works well, the built-in volume control is very convenient. I route the equipment cables through/around the headboard spindles so the amp switch and volume control are within reach (see photo). The speaker itself is thin and lies under the pillow. I can hear the sound clearly even through the thick memory foam pillow. My only complaint is that the wires feel flimsy and I would expect them to break near the plug or speaker at some point, but so far this hasn't happened! I have low frequency hearing loss in my left ear (with tinnitus) and I love falling asleep to the radio. When I'm lying on a pillow with my right (normal) ear, I can't hear the radio. It's hard on my neck lying on my left side just to listen to the radio with my right ear. This pillow speaker gives me choice and takes the strain off my neck. My WISH is a pillow speaker that works simultaneously with the radio speaker; where the sound is not directed to one speaker or the other, but to both at the same time. That would mean I wouldn't have to switch speakers when changing positions in bed. I know this isn't exactly a common goal for a pillow speaker, but I suspect I'm not the only one who needs it.
