Review on πŸ“· Dolica GX600B200 Proline GX Series 60-Inch Aluminum Tripod and Ball Head Combo for DSLR: Pro-Level Support for Superior Photography Experience by Michael Miner

Revainrating 4 out of 5

With Nikon D5200, 18-55 VRII and 55-300 VR in the hands of a good amateur.

This is a good tripod, but not the best. Considering the price and weight, I'm happy with it and it's a lot better than my old SunPak Pan/Tilt. The first downside is that stability could be better, especially when the center column is more than halfway extended, and vibration isolation isn't great. However, my height of 5ft 7in is such that I don't usually need full extension and I usually shoot with a shutter delay or IR trigger so movement from touching the camera doesn't matter much. Haven't tried hanging weight from the hooks but it has helped my old one and I might try bungee cord around legs if I see problems. Screw spikes work well. Panning is very smooth in both horizontal and vertical directions, with easily adjustable and progressive resistance. The camera mounting plate is slotted to improve balance and has a safety knob in case you don't tighten it before transport.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
