Review on 🔧 Professional-grade GEARWRENCH 10 Pc. 1/4" & 3/8" Stubby Torx Bit Driver Socket Set - 81196 by Ricky Habbani

I wanted to give them a more positive review but I can't. which i like . The splint is great quality, the tip fit is great and Gearwrench is a name many people trust to support their customers. The problem with them is that they seem cheap. The bits are not centered on the end of the socket and the end of the bit is starting to rust after only a few months outside in mid western weather. I'm not complaining about cosmetics, but with Torx, rust is a big issue when it comes to fit and grip. The bad news is fasteners will rust, making removal difficult, but if your tools also rust, it's almost unacceptable for a brand name tool. The set is a mix of 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 allen heads. I've heard some people complain about preferring all the kits to be the same size, but personally I find it handy as the rail can accommodate all the connectors. In my experience, the hard drive sizes match the bits in this set. For example, I don't want to see all of these sizes in a 3/8 drive, especially those that come in a 1/4 drive. Unlike hex head sets where the 1/2 drive can go down to 10mm, I prefer the smallest drive for these fasteners to ensure fastener integrity. These are tamper evident/secure torx sockets. They have 6 points (as opposed to the tamperproof Torx Plus which has 5 points) and a pin in the center, so regular Torx tools cannot be used with the mounts they were designed for. The hole in the center of the socket absolutely weakens the bit's strength, so over-torqueing is more dangerous than others. If I could make this purchase again I would go for something that might have a black oxide coating or just a cheaper brand as there is no quality here to justify the price or the Gearwrench brand. I normally like Gearwrench products but this is a complete failure for the brand's reputation.
