Adapter difficult to set up

I got this because I had to move the router to another room and needed it for my desktop. I have a Netgear N600 wireless router. I used the CD and followed the instructions and couldn't get online. I contacted Netgear and since it wasn't a Netgear adapter they wanted to charge me for the installation. I got it on Sat. Of course there was no support phone number listed in the product documentation. I went online from a laptop and only the open MF was corporate. All other support for Belkin was handled over Skype. Finally after half an hour I was told that Netgear should change my router settings to older and slower settings. I contacted gearhead support and it was a joke. The lady made me unplug everything and reboot my router. Since I have a regular phone, that meant I lost my phone. She also got me to change the wiring of Vonage and the router. She was supposed to call me back on my cell phone but didn't. Of course, Netgear also had no contact information on these documents. I had to reconnect everything as it was before and find the phone number on the network. I have a wonderful engineer at Netgear who did away with the board and set everything up. This is the wep @ 54Mbps setting, which is slower. I think customer service stinks! Even though I got the information I needed, the fact that I had to use SKYPE to find someone to help me is STUPID. I am returning this item and will receive a Netgear adapter. At least they have a customer service and technical department that is available 24/7 if I run into any problems. Therefore I am returning this product. If something happens and I can't get online, I need support. The whole process took 5 hours. The first 2 people I skyped with were on the line within 15 minutes. until I got through on the 3rd Skype #. It may be a good product, but customer service is extremely important. Thank goodness for Revain who has one of the best customer services I've seen! Belkin should take notes with Revain Customer Service.
