Review on πŸ’Ž Gemstones & Porcelain: Exquisite Lapidary Necklaces and Bracelets by Sean Sheppard

Cheaper isn't always better - they're worth it for jewelry!

I used to buy bits that were 1/3 their price to make small holes in crumbling rocks that I turn into jewelry. These stones vary in hardness but are mostly granite, quartz, agate etc. The cheap ones break very easily and take a long time to pierce through even the thinnest of stones if they break through at all and wear out quickly if they don't come out . I used maybe 2 per stone before I gave up and bought them based on the reviews. They go as if by magic! So far I've only used one and drilled about 8 holes and the drill bit itself hardly wears out. If you look closely at both you can see that the Drilax bits have worn down the shank which is very helpful. I followed the directions for use, slowly starting at an angle and then injecting directly into either a shallow bowl of water or making sure the hole was kept wet with a dropper. I am so happy that they drill through the basalt with ease and allow me to complete a certain selection of necklaces quicker than I expected.

Pros
  • START oblique drilling - later vertical - immerse drill tip in water.
Cons
  • Vanishing
