I used to buy bits that were 1/3 their price to make small holes in crumbling rocks that I turn into jewelry. These stones vary in hardness but are mostly granite, quartz, agate etc. The cheap ones break very easily and take a long time to pierce through even the thinnest of stones if they break through at all and wear out quickly if they don't come out .
