Review on πŸ”§ Universal Pro Tools: Engine Cooling System Vacuum Purge & Refill Kit Set for Effective Maintenance by Robert Xayamonty

Works well at this price

Firstly, this tool received mixed reviews with some unfounded negative reviews. At this price you can expect a single check valve, which means switching from a vacuum source to a suction tube while the tool is running. For this price the gauge, fittings and case quality is reasonable and expected. In the US, the supplied air fitting will need to be replaced, but the brass connection is the standard 1/4 in. NPT. Some people have difficulty removing the air plug fitting from the brass fitting. Sealant is applied to the threads of the plug to lock the threads. The buyer used a MAP gas torch to heat the connection and it worked. Cause: The heat has destroyed the thread sealant compound. Some have attempted to loosen the air plug fitting without securely holding the brass fitting. This is a surefire way to break the brass fitting where it attaches to the steel knee. To remove the air plug, I clamped the brass fitting in a soft-jaw vise and held the brass fitting in place without deforming the brass. (The box wrench on the brass fitting may work if the air plug is not too tight. Don't do it by putting pressure on the steel elbow.) I didn't use heat, just applied constant force to the hex of the air plug with a deep hex socket. When loosening the thread sealant, the resistance gave way. , the air plug screw is unscrewed. I used an NPT tap with light fingertip pressure to clean the brass threads without removing the brass. Impurities are removed by gently blowing compressed air through the knee. I smeared Teflon paste onto the threads of the new air plug fitting. The main body, pressure gauge and radiator neck seals are working properly. This inexpensive, no-frills tool is functional. If you plan to use the vacuum cleaner every day, there are expensive alternatives. Quality two-valve instruments sell for $200 to $250. With moderate use, this tool gets the job done. For the price it deserves five stars.
