When considering this product I think the best place to start is to describe what it is and isn't. These are NOT night vision binoculars. It looks like two lenses, but one is a lens and the other is an infrared (IR) flashlight. This is not night vision in the traditional sense (light amplification). If you take it out in the dark and don't use a flashlight, the sensor sees almost nothing. Turn on the flashlight and it can see objects within the reflected IR light. Your viewing platform is an LCD screen, you have video and still photo capture options. It is important to understand how this works as it has limitations compared to normal nighttime light amplification. viewing devices. It uses an IR flashlight which is pretty powerful and has a pretty good range. The limitation is that you generally can't use the full range of the flashlight when closer objects are reflecting that light. This highly reflected light tends to blur and overwhelm your image. So when you look through the forest, the trees directly in front of you are blurry and tend to obscure the view of the trees further down the trail. This is not a blow to this device, this is a limitation of all devices using this method of operation. IR light penetrates the darkness and the sensor picks up IR lasers. Magnification is decent, the image was surprisingly sharp for its zoom level. It's certainly more for seeing things from afar than using it to walk down a trail. It is best used when looking a little blindly at an open field or wide swath. During the day it also works well and gives you a decent boost. Image quality isn't as good as a dedicated camera, but good enough to get the job done. The ability to connect to your phone to quickly view and share images is a nice touch. It also comes with its own batteries and memory card. Another bonus as it makes a lot of electronics cheaper.
