The socket is too big. 1/2 PEX works better

I installed this on a 1996 F-350. After installation, it was almost impossible to open the door. This seems to be a common complaint about this product. After researching online I used a piece of 1/2 PEX tubing instead of hard plastic. The PEX required some pressing (jack and vise) but once installed it worked fantastic. The reason for this is that PEX is smaller in diameter than a rigid plastic sleeve. I did both doors and they close like new.
