It's so much faster to zero and tram my work in in my VMC. Seriously quick. I then re did all my tool offsets so that all of my tools are offset wrt this indicator and have a dedicated tool holder for it. Combined with a Z-setter, I was able to calibrate a dozen or so tools in about ten minutes.That said, it took less than 2 hours for my operator to break the tip off. I mean, I guess that's good that it protected the tool. but it does suck that the tips are so expensive to replace.
