I bought this Arris Surfboard Max Plus mesh system hoping to take advantage of WiFi 6 and my gigabit fiber connection. Setup was pretty easy, you download the app and it will walk you through the whole process. One thing that bothered me was that there is currently no way to set the LAN IP to a custom IP of your choice. Maybe that will change with future firmware updates? So the main reason I bought this router was to use it with my new iPhone 11 Pro with WiFi 6. As I have gigabit fiber and the Arris Surfboard Max Plus product page says "True Gigabit WiFi" and "400% faster AC-WLANβ it says, I figured I could get close to gigabit WiFi on my iPhone 11 Pro. I get about half of that when connected to the main unit about 5 feet away. However, when connected to a satellite device, I still get about 500Mbps, which is great, but not gigabit. it is not yet commercially available or the correct firmware has not yet been released, but the search continues. It would be great if these router companies stopped advertising insane Wi-Fi speeds when, in the real world, you only get a small percentage of what is advertised at best. Backhaul to the satellite device at 1.3 Gbps, but with a hardwired laptop to the satellite device, Speedtest is about 500Mbps in and about 700Mbps in. Not bad, but why isn't it confused closer to a gigabit cable me? Finally, the coverage is decent and the speed is about half that of a gigabit WiFi plan with WiFi 6 clients. I pinned a few stars as it doesn't deliver what is advertised.
