Review on Fractal Design Core 500 by Wiktor Borowski ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It is of good quality, but I won't buy it again.

When removing / installing the casing, magnetic dust filters can slide, you should be careful. The basket interferes with the installation of the third cooling slot (cooler or two-slot CBO), but at the same time, excess wires can be placed in it. For assembly, it is advisable to use a screwdriver with a magnetic tip, because. in some places it is problematic to crawl to install bolts. With the basket installed, access to all components is difficult When assembling, you should not fasten everything tightly, first it is better to figure out how it will stand, lay the cables. I did it in the following order: - Motherboard with a processor and a cooler mounting bracket on the back side (on double-sided tape so as not to fall) - Drives (one each 3.5 and 2.5) and drive - Connect the power cables to the motherboard and drives - Install power supply - Lay the power cables (there is room for laying between the basket and the unit) - Connect the cables to the PSU and secure them (with ties or wire) - Connect other motherboard connectors (front panel, SATA) - Rear cooler with connection - RAM - CPU tower with cooler connection - Upper cooler (with a high tower it does not fit well, you should first estimate whether it will fit at all) with connection - Check the cable laying, tighten so that they do not hang out and do not climb into the blades - Video card The wires from the front panel are conveniently attached to the stiffeners of the case and lowered vertically onto the motherboard My setup: Proc: i5-10400f + Zalman CNPS10X Performa Mother: ASRock B460M-ITX/ac Video: MSI Aero 1050ti Valves: complete FractalDesign (the second one I took from my Define S) The video card under full load heats up no more than 70C Processor in stress test no more than 60C

Pros
  • With a reasonable approach to the choice of components, it allows you to assemble a system of any level: from a multimedia box for a TV set to a gaming setup. As described above, with a short block, a long video card fits in, it is possible to put both a 3-in-1 CBO and a tower cooler on the processor.
Cons
  • - Metal thinner than in Fractal Design Define S - No sound insulation, you should not put it on the table, because. no noise from video card
