Yes you can see high up in the mountains but focus is extremely difficult to refine from a distance and focus gets better at lower settings. It picks up waves of heat or ripples in the air, making it difficult to see detail at higher settings. My old Nikon 45x scope has the best distance sharpness. Considering the price, I was hoping for better clarity and the ability to see a little further than my old scope. BUT this is a reliable sight, it looks reliable and not cheap. And the adjustable eyepiece is very good.
