We have no experience with night vision goggles, so an objective assessment is difficult. We first got a $900 set of ATN binoculars and we didn't like them because they were so difficult to use. This gives about the same quality of vision, albeit a much smaller image, and they're fairly easy to use. Note that we don't use them at all during the day, they were bought specifically for night vision. We have version 4.5 and I just think for the money I would give them 5 stars, overall utility at least 3 so 4 stars seems fair. If you're new to night vision and are playing around with it to decide if you want to go ahead and spend big, I think this could be a good place to start. If you have a few acres and want to see what moves there at night, this will definitely work. Could you see a neighbor, yes, could you tell which one, probably not, but you can identify the animals fairly well. my two cents
