I had to replace my previous amp with a new Yamaha amp but wanted to use my existing speakers first as they are ceiling mounted. The only thing that surprised me was that my subwoofer needed a preamp to work with the new amp. I was also considering an exchange, but came across an inexpensive option. With nothing to lose, ordered and was pleasantly surprised. This worked better than I expected and I was able to adjust the base separately, giving me more flexibility to decrease or increase the amount of base depending on my mood. You can't beat this item for the price if you need to preamp your subwoofer.
