I was hesitant to choose a cooler fridge mainly because of the price and possible power outages during a shutdown. I'm SO glad I bought this now! It works exactly as advertised. The compressor runs quietly and consumes energy in economy mode. On an off-road trip, we left this cooler in the back of my hot Jeep for the day, hooked up to a Jackery 500 solar generator. Packed with drinks, beer and snacks, it kept the temperature at 34° with no problem. With the solar generator I got about 36 hours of work in the back of a hot car, if I hooked up a solar panel I'm sure it would run indefinitely. But even after the battery died overnight, I checked the next day and it never went over 40°. Roto molded design similar to Yeti. He keeps that cold locked up! The ability to use it as a traditional ice pack is another big plus. I highly recommend this block. Lots of space and does what it's supposed to. When I'm not on the trails I keep it at home and use it as a permanent extra freezer plugged into the wall. Keep it at 0° for meat and extra storage. Does a fantastic job! Run like a champion.
