Review on ๐Ÿฆ Lion Brand Yarn Touch of Merino: Gardenia - The Perfect Blend of Softness and Style by Rebecca Jackson

Love it but hate it a bit too

Had to order several skeins of this yarn when my local store only had 2 skeins and nothing online. Of course it was more expensive here, but I bought it anyway because it really is a very good yarn. It's soft, lightweight, drapes well, is easy to work with and has amazing color. The only thing I absolutely HATE is that each skein had a ridiculous amount of yarn breaks (places where yarn breaks and binds to more yarn). Because the yarn is so thin, these breaks will be very noticeable in the finished work. I used a magic knot to keep this to a minimum, but either because the yarn is so thin or because it's so soft and smooth, one of the ties came loose during the blocking process. I had to completely unravel the finished scarf. (worth 4 skeins total) and start over again, a project that took me about a month. Now I use the Russian joint, it's much more noticeable but also safer. So if you like yarn, be sure to buy it. If you work with a lot of patterns and not stockinette stitch like me, then it's easier to cover up any connections you need to make. I certainly won't be returning them or abandoning the project, but I feel like having three or more breaks in a strand of this weight is kind of an express train, so 3/5s are recommended with caution.
